Business
Broadcom Inc. designs, develops, and supplies a broad range of semiconductor devices and infrastructure software solutions worldwide. The company operates through two primary segments: Semiconductor Solutions, which encompasses networking, broadband, wireless, storage, and industrial products including high-speed Ethernet switches such as Tomahawk and Jericho3-AI, custom AI accelerators and XPUs, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth combo chips, FBAR filters, optical products like co-packaged optics (CPO), and components for data centers, smartphones, broadband access, telecommunications equipment, and factory automation; and Infrastructure Software, which provides enterprise software solutions such as VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) for private and hybrid cloud infrastructure, software-defined data centers (SDDC), AI ReadyNodes, mainframe operations and management tools, cybersecurity systems including zero-trust architectures, and application development software. Broadcom serves hyperscale cloud providers, large enterprises, governments, financial institutions, mobile device manufacturers like Apple, and telecommunications firms across data center networking, home connectivity, broadband, wireless communications, storage, and industrial markets. Founded in 1961 as a Hewlett-Packard division that evolved into Avago Technologies in 2005 and rebranded to Broadcom Limited in 2016 following the acquisition of Broadcom Corporation before adopting its current name in 2018, the company is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with additional historical roots in San Jose, California, and Singapore. In recent developments, Broadcom secured $10 billion in orders for custom semiconductor chip designs from a new client, bolstering its AI revenue which surged 63% year-over-year; announced a $10 billion share repurchase authorization in April 2025; completed integration of VMware following its acquisition to enhance software offerings; and reported record quarterly revenues of $16.0 billion in Q3 fiscal 2025, up 22% year-over-year, driven by AI semiconductor growth and infrastructure software.
